Educator. Researcher. Innovator. DEIB Leader.

I am a Chicago native and a doctor in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership with a Higher Education concentration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
My passion for higher education and education policy stems from my personal experiences and desire to utilize resources (e.g., connections, opportunities, support, etc.) to support the development of those that I have the chance to meet during my lifetime.
My research interests center on Black, Latino, American Indian, first-generation, women, and low-income persons’ interests and access to STEM majors and careers via pre-college programs. I intend to leverage this work to evaluate and provide insights on STEM education, equity, and inclusion to educators across the P-20 pipeline.
I am co-founder of the web-based platform, Roots & Legacy. I have over 12 years of teaching, researching, and volunteering experiences in education. I have taught for two years in Boston in science, and I have been involved in several higher education positions, where I have been able to gain experience in curriculum development, research, assessment, leadership, supervising, program management and coordination, and leading various workshops and other events. I am co-author of the published works, Seeing myself in the curriculum: Engaging diverse students through technology-usage and culturally responsive teaching, Understanding early research experiences through the lens of connected learning, and STEM transfer pathway policies.
